BOAT TOUR
Discover the Beauty of Florida’s Indian River with a Private Boat Tour
If you’re looking for a peaceful escape on the water, an Indian River boat tour is the perfect way to slow down, unplug, and enjoy the natural beauty of Florida’s Treasure Coast. At Smilin Sandbar Boat Tours, we offer private, captain-led cruises along the scenic Indian River—complete with sandbar stops, wildlife sightings, and plenty of time to relax.
Whether you’re a nature lover, a local looking for a low-key afternoon, or a visitor exploring the coast, our Indian River tours give you a front-row seat to one of the most ecologically rich and stunning waterways in the state.
Why Choose an Indian River Boat Tour?
Stretching along Florida’s east coast, the Indian River Lagoon is one of the most biodiverse estuaries in North America. Calm waters, mangrove-lined shores, and an abundance of wildlife make it the ideal place for a relaxing cruise—no rough waves, no rushing, just peace and quiet.
Here’s why an Indian River boat ride is a must-do:
Unmatched Natural Beauty
As we cruise the river, you’ll see an ever-changing landscape of palm trees, islands, shallow coves, and waterfront homes. The lagoon is also home to manatees, dolphins, pelicans, ospreys, and hundreds of other species—so keep your eyes open and your camera ready.
Calm, Protected Waters
Because it’s a lagoon, the Indian River is protected from open ocean swells, making for a smooth, comfortable ride. It’s perfect for families with kids, people who are new to boating, or anyone who just wants a stress-free way to enjoy the water.
Sandbar Stop Included
We don’t just cruise—we anchor. A highlight of every Indian River tour is stopping at one of the local sandbars, where you can get out and swim, float in the shallow water, or just relax in the sun with your feet in the sand. See a complete breakdown of how our Indian River boat tours work here.
Your Indian River Tour: What to Expect
Our Indian River tours last 4 or 6 hours depending on the size of the tour your book. Every tour is private and led by Captain Tom, a local boating expert with more than 40 years of experience on these waters.
Here’s a look at what your tour includes:
1. Meet at the Marina
We launch from a convenient marina in Jensen Beach. Captain Tom will meet your group, go over safety basics, and help you aboard our clean, comfortable boat.
2. Cruise the Indian River
As we head out, we’ll travel up or down the Indian River, hugging the coastline and passing mangroves, private docks, and quiet inlets. The calm water makes for a smooth ride and great wildlife spotting opportunities.
Keep an eye out—you might see various wildlife
3. Anchor at a Sandbar
After about 30 minutes of cruising, we’ll drop anchor at one of the Indian River’s sandbars. These shallow areas are perfect for hanging out in the water, enjoying a snack, or just relaxing. Want to play your favorite tunes? We’ve got Bluetooth speakers ready. We will hang at the sandbar for 3 or 5 hours depending on the tour length you book (half day or full day).
4. Return to the Marina
After your time at the sandbar, your charter boat cruise will continue with a return trip to the marina. You’ll glide back along the Indian River, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and scenic views one last time. Captain Tom will ensure that the journey back is just as enjoyable and serene as the first half of your tour.
